Music

For me, music has been a journey of strings. I started learning the cello and piano at the age of 6.

I played the cello for 5 years, and after listening to a suggestion from my middle school music teacher, I picked up the double bass.

The double bass was similar but different from the cello and it was difficult to switch instruments. The double bass required much more strength to play due to its bigger size, but it also required much more finesse to produce the right sound.

Despite the challenges, I fell in love with the double bass' deep sound that becomes the underlying bass tone of the orchestra, just like its name.

KIMEA Orchestra

Not long after beginning to play the double bass, there was an opportunity to audition for the KIMEA (Korea International Music Educators Association) orchestra as Chadwick International School's double bass representative.

I set a goal for myself to become my school's representative. So I practiced conscientiously everyday after school for a month until the audition. After putting in hard work and competing with other talented performers, I passed the audition.

It was my first experience as a double bass performer in an orchestra. After finishing the performance successfully, I was proud of myself and of my hard work.
